I am now taking recommendations for books in the category of "memoirs and wisdom-in-the-form-of-humorous-anecdotes from people who have realized that life does not turn out the way you planned."
Even though I never really started with a plan, that part, too, seems not to have gone much as planned.

You don't know me, I'm good friends with Becky McKain, but I have two good books that may or may not fit your criteria (because my husband died 4 years ago when I was 8 months pregnant, I'm all about realizing life doesn't go like we plan):
Won't Let You Go Unless You Bless Me by Andree Seu
Not terribly funny, but comforting and challenging and not necessarily widow-specific.
Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith by Anne Lamott
Lovely and irreverent, even while still being thought-provoking.
Both are Christian writers, both are very different women, and I loved both books for different reasons.
Oh, and I'm getting married to a good man on April 11. My circumstances have been extremely painful, but God was in it. And God is good.
Hi Addie!
Yeah, Anne Lamott is one of my favorites. I've read TM a few times and I'm sure will read it a few more. Thanks for the other suggestion, to! And congrats on your wedding!
